Child Safety at Manchester Primary School
Our Commitment
At Manchester Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where every child can learn and thrive. We have zero tolerance for child abuse and take active steps to ensure the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students.
Our Approach
We follow the 11 Child Safe Standards set by the Victorian Government and the Commission for Children and Young People, and meet all obligations under the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.
Our child safety culture is built around:
- Respect and inclusion for every child, including Aboriginal children, children with disability and children from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Student voice and empowerment, so children know their rights and feel confident to speak up.
- Strong partnerships with families and our community.
- Rigorous recruitment, training and supervision of all staff and volunteers.
- Safe physical and online environments, with ongoing risk assessment and improvement.
- Clear processes for reporting and responding to concerns or allegations.
Our ChildSafe Champion
Our ChildSafe Champion, Andrea Lowe, leads our child safety work and supports our school community to uphold these standards.
